DTC P0420* Reading on 97 Explorer V8 AWD
I own a 97 Explorer V8 AWD with 106,000 miles. I got a code P0420* "Catalyst Sys Efficiency Below Threshold-Bank 1"
Anyone have any explanation in simple terms or what this problem entails? (I never saw the engine check lamp flash)

Just FYI, When I smog tested my Explorer in July 2003, it barely passed the test.
