Following up on a 16+ year old thread...
Ford's manifold bolts have captive lock washers, designed to keep the bolts tight. But it doesn't hurt to check them after a couple of heat/cool cycles.
If you use the hardware included with most aftermarket headers, you should definitely check them periodically.
I've never tried those "stage 9" bolts with the C-clips on the heads, but their design prevents the bolts from turning after you install them. But quite often, the header flanges don't prvide enought room to use them.
