Do I need Fender Flares with 35X12.50's?

Is anyone running 35X12.50 tires on their rigs? If so, do you have fender flares and is there an absolute need for them. I don't really want to put them on my truck but I am afraid of the tires throwing up rocks onto the side of the truck. The tires only stick out of the sire of the truck about .5". Any help is appreciated. Thanks, John :P

John,

I've done Bushwacker OE flairs on SDs with 35/12.5s and in my opinion they make the tires look a bit small. I really don't think they are necessary unless you are running 10" or wider wheels with less than 4" backspacing. If you really want more coverage I suggest you go with the Bushwacker Street flairs. They are smaller and more proportional to the 35s.

I don't have any chips in the paint that fender flares would have prevented. I have one nasty one right behind the rear wheel on the side panel. But I refuse to put mud flaps on.

I don't think you "need" them, I don't run them and I don't have any chips. I don't take it off road much, just old fire roads and logging trails on the week ends.

I am running 35 X 12.5 BFG's on my 2000 CC without the fender flares. HAve had this setup for almost 2 years with no real noticeable chips in the paint. You should be fine without the flares.

Good Luck

I'm running 38"x15.50" without fender flares and have had no chips/scratches. Gets filthy if it's wet out though....

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Aug-02 AT 03:42 PM (EST)]Flares look like crap. No offense Nickdoni, just my opinion.

I'm with PSD power. My truck is chipped like crap because I'm addicted to offroading, but I just can't put those hidious mud flaps on my rig.

I have been thinking about getting the bottom half of my truck rhino lined.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. I think I am going to keep the truck without the flares and mud flaps. Now I have more money to spend on fun toys for the truck!!!!
