2005 Model Suggestions *F-150 Product Team, Take Notice!!! *

The new F-150 is a nice truck indeed. However, there are some things I would like to see soon in the F-150s:

-AWD (perferred) or Control-Trac 4X4

-AdvanceTrac traction and stability system

-Side airbags and side curtains

-Rollover Avoidance like on Navigators, Aviators, and 2005 Explorers

-Offer Lariat with 6.5' Flairside box with tan covers or caps like the previous generation SCrew

-Automatic with manual shift capabilities or shiftronic

-Overhead compass/temperature as part of the rail system add-on or have them on the self-dimming mirror

-Powered or concealed radio antenna

-Painted exterior mirrors and pull handles

-On Lariat, offer chrome front and rear bumpers, and tan front bumper cover. Or colored-in bumpers like on previous generation Expeditions. The way I see it, those painted bumpers on '04 Lariats can be easily scratched.

-Telescopic steering wheel in addtion to column adjustment. I do like the tilt (pivoting) steering wheel of the previous generation though.

-Lighting in the bed besides the one above the rear windows where the third brake light are

-LED third brake light

-Four corner air suspension or at least a load-leveling option.

-Factory installed HID on both headlamps and fogs

I would appreciate to see this and more options in the new F-150.

Thanks.

What ever happened to the manual transmission option? I have a 2004 FX4 SCAB on order with automatic transmission. I hope I can find something to do with my left foot!!!!!!!

I like many of your suggestions. I only have a couple to add at this time:

- Power outside mirrors ... able to push a button and have them fold in!

- Power rear window ... no, not like the current one (even though that's a nice touch). I'm talking about the wide, vertically sliding window as seen on the Sport Trac. I would have purchased this option had it been available.

I may come up with more. I will certainly come up with a couple more once I actually get my SCrew.

I agree with many of the changes, especially the side curtain air bags and AdvanceTrac stability control system. In addition to the side curtain air bags, I think they should offer seat mounted side air bags to protect driver and passenger torsos.

With the AdvanceTrac, I think that they should include the limited slip differential with the AdvanceTrac. On the Expedition the two cannot be had together.

The only other changes I can think of would be a manual transmission on base models and a V-6 for lower level models.

On FX-4, offer heated seats with the leather and a power passenger seat. Those seats are cold in the winter time.

Heated/cooled seats in the Lariats.

You cannot get a LS differential with AdvanceTrac because the system does not need it to send power to the wheel with the most traction.

How about a diet? The new F-150 is a porker.

It needs to lose about 500 lbs. first, then you can load it up with airbags, air suspension, etc., which will probably add that 500 lbs. back.

How about the V-10 as an option?

What about the Super Crew with a 6.5 foot box on the Heavy Duty 1/2 ton. That would have been my pick, to tow a light 5th wheel and have room for 5-6 adults confortably sitting.

More power is always welcome of course.

More torque as well.

Moonroof to tilt as well as open (getting short of ideas now)

Enough for now.

The moonroof DOES tilt. When closed, hit "close" again. Tilts up from the back, like a sunroof.

you need to read up on AWD. There is no comparison to part time 4 wheel drive. AWD does not do nearly as well in real bad weather like heavy snow and mudd.

the new f150 needs factory satellite radio option and if not standard they ought to offer a tach as option on the STX. And as already mentioned, side air bags are needed.

Good grief...stuff like this is why trucks are over $30K to begin with. Whatever happened to just building a good TRUCK? Sounds like you guys are used to driving Cadillacs.

re: good grief, this is why trucks are over $30k ..............your point is well taken but have you noticed what 2004 f150 models are selling. Ford is selling way more lariats than they anticipated, and xlt's are extremely hot sellers, but I have only seen one XL 04 on the road in the houston area. to me the possible options listed in this thread are appropriate for trucks with MSRP of upwards to $40k. so yes, i guess the guys with 2005 option wish lists are used to driving cadillacs--but these cadillacs have a cargo bed in the back and a big fat 9 inch blue oval branded on the rear end.
