Idle Oil Pressure

What is the lowest oil pressure at idle that a "well broken in" 460 can tolerate? Mine is dropping the factory gauge to the low end when engine is at operating temp. I will be installing a manual gauge soon, just wanted to get some opinions.

The engine is in a 1978, 2wd, F-250.

hi, well my 460 has well over 110,000 miles and has been around 20 p.s.i. on the gauge at idle for a long time with NO problems, i also use a high volume oil ( mellings ) pump. factory gauges are just junk gauges especially the oil gauge. no way of really telling what is going on. even though your gauge reads on the low side it still doesn't mean that you might have really low oil pressure. but yes i would install a mechanical gauge these read the best, hook up the line right to the back of the top of the block right behind the intake there is a post there to hook to. alot safer than coming in from the side by the fuel pump.
