I just replaced the carb on my truck. First I was told that I could not get one just like mine with a manual type choke. I was sold one with an electronic choke. After plugging all of the extra vaccum holes the carb works great except for the fact that my idle will not stay adjusted. Every time I get it set it sounds fine . When I drive it runs fine. After I pull back in the driveway and put it in park it idles very high again. Can anyone explain what my problem is and how I can fix it.

I have no experience with this, but just a quick question. Is the automatic choke hooked up to a constant 12v or to a switched 12v source? I think that is is supposed to be a switched. IDK, just throwing it out there.. Good Luck.

 

It is fixed. The problem was a break in the line that runs from the exhaust manifold to the choke. The choke themostat spring was not getting warm enough to shut off properly.
