PERFORMANCE GAINS
Since installing the Flowmaster Series 70, Big Block II Muffler, I have experienced the following performance gains:
1) Much better low end torque, resulting in quicker 0 - 60 MPH times
2) Much better mid-range power, resulting in quicker acceleration when you kick it donwn into "passing" gear
3) Better overall gas mileage.......from 16.4 MPG to 17.3 MPG on my everyday around town and open highway mix of driving......and on a recent rrip to Pennsylavania, I got 19.8 MPG on Interstates, driving between 70 and 80 MPH, most of which was at 75 MPH or higher
The only missing part of this "maximum air - maximum air out" better performance philosophy is a K & N AIr Filter....which I will install as soon it is available...which will be about 1 month, based on what K & N told me last week.....

According to the people I spoke with at Ford......taking off the stock muffler and tailpipe.....and installing an aftermarket muffler wil NOT have any negative effect on the warranty whatsoever.....
JUST AS LONG AS ANY EXHAUST SYSTEM MODIFICATIONS ARE MADE AFTER THE CATALYTIC OXIDIZER.....AND THAT YOU MAINTAIN THE FACTORY INSTALLED, 2 EXHAUST HEADERS INTO ONE SINGLE TAILPIPE CONFIGURATION
Of course, after Ford's 3 years/36,000 miles Warranty.....you can do ANYTHING you want to do to your truck.

NO.....it is NOT loud. If you want loud.....go with the Flowmaster Series 40s.
However....have no doubt.....when I get down on my go pedal.....nearby people know it!!!!!!
And under "normal" driving conditions...it has a nice deep, mellow, smoothe tone.......NOT at all obnoxious, but noticeable....

Anybody have anything good to say about Gibson exhaust? I had one on my 97 Scab flareside 4.6l and was not impressed with the sound. Too mellow and no noticeable increase in mpg and hp. ran around 13-14 mpg from day 1, and after the exhaust and a K&N were added. It even came unmade after about a year and a half, began rattling at low rpms's, very annoying!!. The guy I bought it from pretty much said too bad, so he's been black listed. But one thing, it didnt rust! a few friends have put the flowmasters on and they sound great but look like chevy's in a few years. My Gibson was mellow. dirty and rattling but sound when I took it off to sell the truck for my 04'. I'm ready to put some sound behind my 04 scab 5.4 but want the muffler to last longer than two years. How bout Borla? Any input on their product besides pricey?
