Is something missing???

Probably a dumb question, but we opened the hood on my buddy's new '03 Lightning and noticed that there was no heat shield on the underside of the hood. Just sheetmetal. Are they all like that? Anybody know why that heat shield material wouldn't be there? Thanks.

That whining blower is awesome! It was my first Lightning ride and I never knew that you could hear it like that... but weight?? For real? That thing can't weigh any more than a pound or so... Oh well, at least that answers my question. Thanks!
