Truckguy, I think I would try what I did. I disconected the two bolts to the sway bar. Wired it up not to drag or hit anything and drove around. This is how I found my problem. I was going to take the shocks off next. I can tell you it is grand not to hear that clucking.Good luck Alan

floor board thump

Same problem here, but only when turning the steering wheel. It happens both ways. I can be i park, and turn it either way, and at a certain point, floor bourd thumps. Any suggestions?

HI, that to me sounds like upper ball joints. Does your truck wander alot at high speeds? That could also be the swaybar. I will find out later this month what really causes the thumping from a Ford mechanic I can get good info from.

The sound in my truck comes and goes. I tried tightening the front l/s body bushing to around 150 ft/lbs. The rear l/s lower shock bolt was a little loose so I tightened that. I changed the sway bar sbusings to the "Energy Suspension" set. The leaf spring u bolts are tight. Still the annoying noise persists only when applying the brakes at low speeds. iT REALLY IS DRIVING ME NUTS \\

I will find out the cause. My truck also when going around a bend and you hit a pot hole or bump, the whole truck bounces around the bend ripping the steering wheel out of your hand. I am probably going to do upper ball joints and mabey a steering stabilizer from rancho.

When the noise started on my truck I also changed the sway bar bushings. The Energy Supension bushings that I had were to big pn#5587 1 3/8 .This is what was orderd for my F350 4x4. I put the stock one back in and the noise went away.

When I changed out the stabilizer bar bushings they looked a little torn up. The energy suspension bushings were actually a more snug fit. The noise in my truck doesn't happen all the time just enough to keep it really annoying. It is only when I am slowing down to a stop from mabye 5 or 10 mph most often in a straight line. When I apply the brakes that is when I hear the clunk!!!! I cannot figure it out because I am going so slow when I hear it I have a hard time believing that something actually moves enough for the noise/clunk to be transmitted through the body bushing under the drivers side floor board. Any advice on a good replacement shock or for some gas saving tips for the v10. (Besides not driving the truck)

Rancho RS5000 shocks are great. If you want a more heavy duty ride the Monroe heavy duty shocks are good too. Rancho and Monroe are the same company I found out. So they are both great. As for gas milage, use 89 octane gas, ( I find my truck runs great and quieter on Sunoco). Change all your filters. Use full synthetic oil. (I like Castrol). Keep it waxed and tires inflated properly. Drive like theres an egg under the gas, dont step on it hard. Mine goes up to 2000 RPM before shifting into second gear, never any higher. 5.4 v8. You probably know most of this but what the hell. Help out a few more people.

Rob , Thought I don't have a V10. I was told by a guy that does have one .He saw a increase when he put on a good set of headers and dual exhaust.Said he saw almost 4 miles to the gallon gain? I'm sure the set up is not cheap.I'm thinking 800 to 1200 bucks.Good luck I know how you fill .I love my PSD but Hate the cost of fuel..

$ 8-1200 sounds right. The exhaust manifold and Y-pipe on the Tritons are very restrictive and reduce power alot. Im thinking about swapping mine too, my Y-pipe split. Powerstroke Diesels RULE!! F**** Opec.

Still Trying

To All Thanks For The Information.i Think That My Next Step Is To Replace The Leaf Spring Bushings With The Set Form Energy Suspension. The Customer Service People At Energy Are Very Helpful. The Set Of Bushings Is Fairly Cheap But It Is A Pain In The A-- Job To Do. All In The Effort To Get Rid Of This Noise. It Could Stand To Reason That When I First Had The Noise At 20k Miles The Dealer Installed The Plastic Insulators At The Ends Of The Spings And That Made The Noise Go Away. Now 5 Years And 25k Miles More Mabye The Leaf Spring Bushings Have Worn To The Point That The Insulators Do Not Work Anymore. Any Thopughts???

Still guessing leaf spring bushings. I'm sure of it, but I will finally find out for sure next Friday. If you get the Energy Suspension bushings, get the black ones. They are lubricated with graphite.

Good news, it's the driver's side Swaybar bushing, not the link on my truck. I got it on a lift and that bar moved a quater-inch when i pulled on it. I am going to replace the swaybar bushings and the swaybar link bolt bushings.
