Has anyone in here ever built a clevor 302??

I am toying with the idea, because I have the heads and this is a mustang project. I need to know how long of lifters I need.

Not sure what you mean by how long the lifters are. I think maybe you mean the pushrods. Even so I have no clue how long the push rods would be.

I have read a few people doing this on the mustang site I visit but I don't know the specifics of the build. You can use the 351C heads but they need a little work like blocking off a coolant passage and something else.

I am also thinking of doing the same thing but I haven't gotten the other mustang yet so I haven't pursued anything in detail yet.

If the right deal comes along I will prusue it. If not the cost could be a factor in rebuilding a set of heads and with the price of after market heads these days and the numbers the flow they're hard to beat. It would be more for show to say I have one I guess.

oh yeah sorry. I meant how long the pushrods need to be with hydraulic non-roller lifters.
Ill post pics of my stang later today. Ill show you how far Ive got for $1700canadian including purchasing the car. I dont want to spend money on heads. If I do Ill find some gt40, or make some gt40s from a pair of e7's. I have detailed diagrams for making the clevor, but the only thing it doesnt cover is the length of the pushrods needed.

I wanted to use the cleveland heads also because I dont like the valve covers on the 302 heads. How the narrow ends are round, I like the cleveland big wide square valve covers.
heres some pics of the car http://forums.stangnet.com/attachmen...chmentid=16760

Nice car and I like the truck in the back ground as well. I see you like the color blue as well.

Here is a link to my web site. http://home.comcast.net/~grabblue65/index.html

thanks. The truck is my brothers (used to be mine), its a 77 f150 shortbox 4x4(of course). Started life as a 300 cid I6, went and got a 302, killed the 302 and put in a windsor. They actually painted my car the wrong blue. I gave the shop 2 different cans and they used the darker one. Not that much darker but less metallic, oh well Im completely satisfied with the darker color.
Nice site. How would I find what pushrods I need? I know there are a couple people on here that have done the clevor set up.

Since the boss 302 motors used the cleveland heads I would bet that they used close to the same push rod length.

Your best bet may be to buy an adjustable push rod for checking push rod length. It's very important that you get the correct length or the rocker will push on the valve incorrectly creating more side load on the guide.

When installing after market cams it's always a good idea to check the push rod length any ways.

If my buddy can find the site that went into detail on the clever motors I will post it.

If you haven't looked into headers yet you may look into boss 302 headers for your car. If you can't get them then you will have to build a set or have them built.

The wife likes the color on your mustang. Do you know the code?

I have a pair of long tubes for a 302 Im going to fab up mounts so they fit the cleveland heads.
The paint on the car is single stage Imron (old dupont). I got it for free, didnt order it. I have no idea what the paint code is but the paint looks alot darker in the can, more of a royal/navy blue. Like I mentioned earlier, including purchase of the car, as it sits right now Ive spent less than $1700, my goal is to stay under $3000.

I would definately like to read the site youre mentioning, Ill do some google searches for it.

Looks like a great project. My friend just bought a 94 mustang, and a 302 HO from a lincoln mark V. I've told him about the site, and he'll be a member soon. (he also owns a Ford Truck).

RTM, I would like to do the same sort of mods to a Falcon, in about 10 yrs
