after market hitch?

Hi all has any bought a aftermarket reciver hitch for there 04 yet,who makes them and how much do they cost. Got a class 5 for my sd installed for $200 and a class 3 for my last 150 for $125 installed so I was hoping that one for the 04 would not cost an arm and leg.

Thanks
Dave

I know someone makes them Ford is putting them on alot of trucks and I doubt they are making their own. You might call any local RV shop in your area and get a price or call Reese Hitch @ 1-888-447-3373 and get a part # from them and then start calling to make it easier to find. I doubt anyone has one in stock they will have to order it. Make sure you get a NO DRILL style so you don't have to drill holes in your frame.

I was told by our accessory department that there are no holes in the frame for an aftermarket hitch, they had to be drilled, so I made sure I got the towing package on mine. Havent really looked at the others though. I think what we carry at our dealership is Drawtite but not sure.

Kittyhawk,

I recently had a Hidden Hitch installed on my 04 F-150. It is rated at 6000 lbs and cost $149.99 plus tax.

yzracer,

Whoever told you that there are no mounting holes in the frame for aftermarket hitches was blowing smoke in your direction. I'm willing to bet they never got on their knees and checked out the undercarriage. The hitch above uses the same mounting holes that the factory installed hitch uses. I do like the fact that the 4 wire flat connector is standard on my F-150. with or without the factory hitch.

Oneagle1 I see you are from Texas anywhere near Houston? I like the bug gaurd and the window vents also the steps. Besides the hitch those are on my wish List.

Thanks

kittyhawk,

I live in the Augusta, Georgia area. I have my truck registered in Texas as I have a son near Ft Hood. The Bug Guard and window Vents cost $78.00 plus tax installed by a local truck accessory store. They also installed the Hidden Hitch and applied the Rhino liner in the bed. Next on my wish list is a lid for the bed and molded mud flaps. Gotta do one thing at a time. Enjoy your ride.

I would call U-Haul and ask them for a quote. Have had them install a couple of hitches on trucks, the latest on a 1998 Ranger that came with the towing package, but no receiver - go figure with Ford. Anyway, they have always had a good price and guys around that are used to trying to adapt anything to tow what they rent.
