Future 6 Cylinder?

Has anyone heard anything specific about any future plans for a 6 cylinder in the new F150? I'm also thinking that the 4.6 will be due for an upgrade similar to that just performed on the 5.4. Any future 6 cylinder would have to have power equivalent to the current 4.6 just to move that heavy beast. If a 6 is coming, would you speculate V-6 or straight 6?

The only rumors floating about a 6cyl are regarding a diesel. Ford decided to not go with Navistar's 6cyl and is shopping for a different maker. I'm hoping they do come out with a 4.5 or so liter V6 diesel. It would be about the same HP as the 4.6 gas, but way more torque and better economy.

I think if Ford does come out with another gas 6 cyl, it will be a new V6. However, I like the old inline 6. Wish they would just update a new engine like that one.

Oh yes that old inline 6 was a tough motor. I had it in my 93 2wd reg cab 150.

My father has a 1984 F150 4x4 four speed with the 300 inline six. 290,000 miles on it. Only replaced rod and main bearings. Everything else in the engine is still stock. It still starts at -30F as long as he didn't through some cheap battery in it over the summer.

Steve Lyons mentioned in a broadcast to dealers back in September that there will be a 6-cylinder for 2005, but he gave no details at the time, and I haven't heard anything further. If any more info becomes available, I'll post it here.

A 6 cylinder diesel would be great. I'd buy it. Can't beat torque and fuel mileage.

I had a '94 300CID. It was a great motor; except for the rear main seal that went out.

Mabe some one can answer this question. My local dealer is advertising a 2004 F-150 Heritage W/ a V6 Automatic. I really confused me when I saw it. Have'nt had a chance to stop in and see it
