I bought many parts from PAW about 8 years ago and they were great. Even their generic camshaft kit.

I have the Haynes ford engine overhaul manual.
In one of the illustrations there's an overhaul kit
shown and the caption reads (We select engine kits
from Performance automotive wholesale (PAW) to
overhaul our project engines) That may add a little
credibility to the quality of the parts. I have been looking
at those low prices to. If you buy a kit post again
and give us your opinion.

The last time I dealt with PAW was probably 13yrs ago or so. I did a 390 FE rebuild with probably 90% of the parts coming from them. I had no complaints at all (it was a mix of their "house brand" parts, and "name brand" melling, fel-pro, etc supplied thru them) Shipping was fast, prices were good and quality was good too. No problems returning some items I didnt need either. I cant speak for how they are now, but I will probably be ordering parts for the 429 from them. (also, they have "name brand" parts at some pretty good prices, just keep in mind to balance the lower cost of the part with the price of shipping whenever you mail-order something)

I bought a few piston and ring kits from them in the mid 90s for some small block Chevy motors.I had no problem with them.

PAW parts

Hi every one I have a 1976 390 that I finishing the build as we speak I have purchased pistons, rings, all bearings. new valves and springs and pushrods. I even bought a brand new flex plate from them for 41.00 best price I have found any where. I parts came quickly no shipping if under 150 lbs the only mistake was on the push rods sent me the wrong ones sent it back and they fixed the problem right away. There tech line is not the greatest but if you know what you want buy online from there catalog has worked great for me.

I haven't purchased anything from them yet. On the few items they carried that I wanted, Summit was actually a little cheaper.

However, that 1171 page catalog is very good for understanding options and what you need/want. (It also would make a great boat anchor or something to tie the dog to in the back yard.)

Later,

To the query on the 460 and how many HP you might expect I just read through a shootout doc between the 460, the 454 and a Mopar engine. The 460 came in last behind 454 BUT it came in last with ****618 hp**** at 6000 rpms and consistently output 500 ft/lbs of torque.

Not bad numbers to lose with. :-)
