Thinking about Magnaflow 16615
I am thinking about getting this exhaust:
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=all&id=4306
I would like the truck to have a nice rumble while idling and when under acceleration. I still want it fairly quiet on the highway (Its really nice on longer trips). Does Magnaflow have issues with resonance in the cab? Summit seems to have a good price. On the dyno chart, Magnaflow stated a 17hp increase. That seems pretty significant. Just wondering if I would notice a difference. Thanks.

check this threadhttps://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...6-exhaust.html
FWIW....after having the system on my truck for over a month and a half now, with the muffler now broken in nicely, I still really like it.
A pick of my truck with the system on. Sorry for the low light level. Kind of a last minute shoot as I was running out of daylight....
...and a size comparison beteen the stock system and the Magnaflow...

Thank you for the helpful thread and pics. I actually posted the wrong link. I was talking about the split rear exit like this:
Magnaflow Stainless Cat-Back 2005-2007 16615 | Exhaust Systems | 04-08 F150 | Ford | Gas Power | Performance Truck Products
Im excited and just have to wait a month or so (I'm cheap). Oh, how hard is it getting the stock components off? There is nothing wrong with them and I would like to keep them intact.

Check out the link danorules posted. I explained the removal of the stock exhaust in detail.
Start with the after cat pipe and loosen both ends to give you the most rotational leeway. After that, just do as stated...don't waste your time trying to wiggle the hangers out of the rubber isolators. Just unbolt the hangers themselves and remove the whole thing. There is no reason anyone needs to ruin a stock exhaust system by chopping it up.
Have a can of penatrating oil on hand and give the old bolts a liberal coating before starting.
...also back the rear end of the truck up onto a curb to give you another 6"-8" of height to work with. Every bit helps, but you still have to have weight on the suspension to make it work. Also, make sure the exhaust is stone cold before fiddling around with any of the bolts. It'll prove less "fussy" that way...not to mention easier to handle with your bare hands.

Thanks for all the great info and pictures. While looking for exhaust I was dissapointed that Magnaflow didnt have split-side rear exit exhaust, which is what I was originally looking for. While looking at Performance Truck Products I found this: MBRP 2.5" Cat Back DUALS (T304) EC/CC-SB 04-08 F150 4.6/5.4L (Split Side) S5204304 | Exhaust Systems | 04-08 F150 | Ford | Gas Power | Performance Truck Products
That is exactly what I want. Does anyone have experience with this brand. I remember seeing a members truck with MBRP exhaust, dano, it must have been you. I just noticed your signature. Thanks.

IMO, if you want rumble, hang a Flowmaster under it. I have the Mag on my '05 and it is perfect for me. Cant hear it idle, but when you hit the gas it makes some noise. I have the SIDO, so duals out the back. Cant hear the truck on the highway. But now my '72 warmed up a little bit 390 will roar with the dual Flows. The Magnaflow to me is a more refined exhaust noise, whereas the Flow is just outright loud. If you want a lot of "deep rumble", dont use too much pipe after the muff.

If you want noise buy Flowmaster. If you want flow with good sound buy Magnaflow. I put Flowmasters on my F150 first. I hated them on long trips due to the drone. I put a dido Magnaflow with a x pipe built in it on last. It sounded good when you got down on it & didn't drone at highway speed. I had headers, true duals & the rear cats gutted on my 5.4.

I'm thinking about an exhaust upgrade now also, but this one only ports out to one side, right? Is there a set up that brings one pipe out to each side? Do I need to go with headers for that, and if so what else is involved? Can I still have a good quiet highway ride? Do I need a new program?

mbrp has a split side exit. i had that system on my 07 f150 and liked it a lot. i have installed both systems and like the mbrp better. i have magnaflow on my navigator now and had to do some work to make it fit right and the same with my inlaws truck. the mbrp bolted up perfectly.
