I just got some new lights for my truck for Christmas. They are a combination of driving and fog lights in one unit. Where should I mount them? I was thinking about the bumper (duh!) But, should I put them on the top or bottom of the bumper? I was thinking the top because they will be better protected. What do you think? All opinions needed.

You would want to mount them on the bottom of the bumper, cause it would look retarded on top. Also, make sure you aim them correctly. Nothing is more irritating than someone who has incorectly aimed lights.
I would have to say the bottom also. They look much cleaner that way (as in looks). If you have the small plastic rail that goes around the bottom of the bumper (small airdam), you can drill a small hole in them for the rear of the bulb and wires to go in to. Then all you see is the light. I did my old Ranger that way - I'll see if I can dig up a pic for you...
Well, I guess it's settled. Bottom of the bumper it is! I will probably be doing them tomorrow. Wait, a minute, it already is tomorrow! I guess I will be doing them later on today! LOL! If you have that pic that would be great. Thanks guys. If anyone else has any opinions or ideas that would be great too. Thanks!

If you are concerned with damage to the lens you might try covers for normal driving or you could buy that protective film from 3M.
The film is like thick plastic self stick tape. It is only for glass lenses. You can buy it from Griots Garage, they have a website. A bit expensive($30?) but much cheaper than some lenses.
I had an 89 SHO that broke a lens every year. You could not buy a lense so I had to buy the light, $100 a pop. When I tried out the plastic, I never broke another lens, so in the long run it was way cheaper than new lights every year. Good stuff, but for glass only like I said.
Fog lights need to be low, driving lights need to be high. A combo is strange. I would mount low since the fog is more useful and driving lights are usually illegal unless they are those cheesy "for decoration only" type lights, you know, the ricer specials.
This comment may be a lil on the late side but i always thought they looked pretty neat built into the bumper, especially if you have a wench bumer and their of rectangular shape...jus my 2 cents
later
