Can someone identify this engine?

I wasn't sure where to post this so if it needs to be moved, then please move it.

It's an old V8 with the pistons, rods, and main caps.

Pistons measure 4 1/2" diamater. The pistons were stuck in the cyliders but it looked like the cylinders were roughly 6 1/2" deep.

Intake manifold is 4 barrel and on the top it has the letters HW and 2208000

On the side of the block it has 2468030-3 and below that it has D N RL

It has 2 bolt mains and the block is roughly 14 1/2" and 14" tall.

Also, there are only three exhaust ports on each side and I could not find any holes for the manifolds or headers to screw into. Strange.

I know a lot of it is probably useless info. but that's all I got.

Help us out a bit. Is this definitely a Ford or is it brand unknown? Overhead valve or flathead? Approximate stroke? Front or rear distributor? 5 mains or 3?

4.5" bore is HUGE. The 460 is only 4.36" bore. That thing is most likely a truck engine, which adds another question: gas or Diesel?

The brand is unknown.

Overhead valve or flathead?

I'm thinking OHV. That didn't even cross my mind when I was checking it out.

Approximate stroke?

I'm not sure, I'd need to try to get the pistons loose first. 4"?

Front or rear distributor? 5 mains or 3?

I'm pretty sure it's a front distributor. 5 mains. I do know there were more than three.

gas or Diesel?

I'm not sure, I thought I saw sleeves in the cylinders. Diesels have sleeves right?

Thank you for the help!

how does an old v8 have 3 exhuast ports on each side? The 406 and 428 have 4.13 inch pistons.

The old Ford flat-heads only had 3 exhaust ports. Basically the two middle pistons exhaust ports were joined as one.

As did the early OHV Oldsmbiles and probably some other GM products. I just don't know much about that Brand-X stuff
