As for buildups of the 429 , the basic principles are the same as a 460. A set of iron heads will work fine. You might want to use D0VE's, or C9's if possible. D0OE's are fine, but the cost is prohibitive. Any of the aluminum heads are good, too and should give some improved performance over stock heads, althouygh ported stock heads can be pretty impressive. Keep the CR to around 9.5:1 if you plan to run pump gas. Weiand Stealth is the best all around intake unless you are all out racing. On the bottom end, D0OE rods should be good to around 600-650 hp and around 6000-6500 RPM when fitted with ARP bolts. Use a pre-1972 double roller timing chain. Cam with duration at 0.050 of around 215-220 on the exhaust side will be strong but mild mannered. 235 duration is getting more racey but can be used in a 429 on the street. Anything bigger than that will be more difficult to live with on the street and will likely need help to power vacuum accessories. Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any specific questions.

SCJ rods are good to over 7000 rpm, and around 700 horses. I should know, we race one. SCJ and truck rods are identical. Also, I can verify that the Stealth is a great intake, and with mildly ported D0VE's, has turned over 7200 rpm, while racing. Keep the cam about a step lower than you would think you need, and you should be fine.
