Turbo 5.4?

Anybody out there turboed their 5.4?..I know Total Performance has a kit..But what about problems? It seems like most bolt on forced inductions all have some tuning problems,,at least at first.

^Parasitic losses at the crank. If I'm not mistaken my KB requires 89 HP to turn at full tilt. I don't think this is the case for a turboed unit and from what I'm told, a turbo application can run a little higher boost pressure before detonation (all things considered). I don't understand how, but that's what I've been told.

In fact, there is... And they decimate all. C-5s, LS-1s... In my 4500 LB Reg Cab pushes C-5s out of the way from 70-150, and Mark's 5650 LB S'CREW plays with Vipers on 190. At 8 PSI no less. I can dial in over 20 PSI though...

In fact, the best E.T. on the S'CREW is 12.56 at FFW, at 8 PSI on pump gas and a heat index of 112 degrees!

We use the base turbo (T-67 Ported Shroud) and we can bolt on a T-76 GTSH. We have worked with two Lightning owners to build their T-76 beasts, and one is about to fire soon! The second is waiting on a 1200 HP BILLET Longblock from VT Engines... More to come!

Project progress, dyno results, and some video is all here... NO Nitrous YET!

Mine...
www.trixtersracing.com/project02.htm 488/542 at the wheels... With a MBC.

Mark's
www.trixtersracing.com/turbotime.htm 425/535 at the wheels... No MBC yet!

Hkiefus- You are right. In addition to charge temps at ambient at FULL boost (Up to 16 PSI... 91 degrees), the 100 HP parasitic loss offers the benefit of a 100-150 HP gain, depending on the type of blower and boost level!!! With that, at 16 PSI, we have a potiential advantage of over 150 HP over a Lightning at 16 PSI!

Without the parasitic losses, we see the same power gains we saw on the Procharger... But with the turbo at 8 PSI and the Procharger (D-1SC) at 15 (Both with 3-core intercoolers)!!!
