Hmm, i may try some of that. I remember when i bought my used explorer there was a thin lining of sludge over the oil fill cap. Pour in Mobil 1 and it was gone!
It is a chlorinated based lubricant. It is almost the same thing as pouring Clorox in the oil. It is highly corrosive so, yes, it can do more damage than good. Next time you have some clorox around, put some on your hand and see how slick it is. This is also the same type lube as Duralube and the rest of the snake oils.
I see Houckster is now touting the benefits of SFR100, an additive for dino oil. If he's used it "very successfully", I wonder why he needed to switch to SynLube.

Side effects of using Pro Long are usually mild, and include a lightening sensation in the wallet. Burnouts lasting over four hours, although rare, require immediate attention...
Buy a good quality full synthetic oil and filter and change them both on a regular basis and you can forget about needing to use any kind of mouse milk or magic juice in your motor.
Steina: I stand by my recommendation of SFR100. I think it works very well and can add a safety margin to dino oil. I decided using SynLube was better than dino oil/SFR100, thus my change.
