Has anybody here ever entered or watched a Valve cover race ?
Yes, People race Valve covers at Car/Truck shows.
There are rules about them.
One being, the Weight of the valve cover
The Valve cover cannot weigh more than exactly 10 pounds
.
It can have any type of wheels,tires.
It is raced over 16' on a 45* angle.
The Race start is much like the Soapbox derby's.
Here is a sample of what I am talking about.

How come they are on a snow track and have skiis? I have heard of them on a wooden track with wheels before.
When I first saw these things on the internet my first thought was to build one onto a remote control car chassis, then I could drive a ford valve cover all over the place.
Valve cover races have been a big part of Corvair get-togethers for quite some time. The Corvair valve cover is a bit flatter than most others, so it makes a great racer. Always makes for a good time.
