I find my diesel to be more noisy at idle than any other time. I will agree that the new 6.0 is very impressive, quiet and lots of power!

I just bumper-towed 6,000 lb trailer 1,000 miles through eastern and central NV (lots of mountains) and got a whopping 7.1 mpg. 2010 Cabela's trimmed V10 gasser with about 2,500 miles on it. It hurts when I gas! Hope it improves with more break-in.

I saw the "test drive a "new" 6.0" and took a look at the date...

As did I. Been a looooong time since I've heard (A) someone call a 6.0 "new and (B) I've heard anyone actually recommend buying a 6.0!

Although I drive a F150 for work, it has the 5.4 and 4.10's(I think). I get, with normal driving, around 14 mpg. When I'm cautious and paying attention to driving, I can get up to 17.5.

11.5-12.5 - mixed driving (never go over 3k rpms). Maybe 14-15 unloaded highway, havent had too many long distance highway trips. 5,000 trailer mixed driving is 8.5. All hand calculated.

2008 Ford F-250 4WD with a 5.4L

I would like to know who is getting 20MPG with a F-250 4WD 5.4L
You may want to invest in a new calculator.

I average about 13.5 Hw/City combined and on a long highway trip I might get 14.5 around town you can expect to get around 12.5

The 5.4L on thit truck is a big mistake if you intend to trailer over 6000 lbs. It is grossly underpowered since the truck already has a 6200 GVWR.

Another Ford engineering blunder that you don't find out about until you are tugging a load. They rate the truck for over 10,000 lbs and I can tell you first hand after towing an 8000lb boat around that you will be sorry you settled for the 5.4L. I listened to story after story of guys towing big box trailers with double super duper triple guns with compressors and tool boxes on board but after you add up all the weight I am willing to bet that it will amount to around 5000 lbs which the truck can handle with ease.

But then WTH would by buy an F-250 for if you were not intending to carry some real weight?

If you intend to trailer over 6000 lbs serously suggest you go for the Diesel since it has twice as much torque.

You will be much much happier in the end.
