Post first time on highway

Just had the truck on the highway for the first time (Pittsburgh to Morgantown) about 140 miles round trip. 15.2 mpg. I am very pleased. Plus the thing rides soooooosmooooth at 75-80.

You got that right about the smooth ride! Just wait till you get it @ 100. It sneaked up on me once on the highway; I was just cruising along in my '02 F-250 SC LB when I looked down at my speedo. I knew I was going fast, but didn't expect triple digits.

15.2 MPG? What the heck am I doing wrong?!?!?! I've got a soft tanneau and I still can't break 14 MPG even when I set the cruise control on 75.

Down hill? I thought these trucks were limited to about 97 without a chip. (obnoxious diesel comment ignored)

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-Nov-02 AT 11:15 AM (EST)]1) I don't know at what speed the governor is set, but I have broken 100 in my truck on a flat highway -- no tailwind, no hill. She seems to do it quite smooth, as well. Apparently it's not 97 on my 2002 model. And no, I don't have a chip. I would like to repeat the experiment at some point, but will have to wait until traffic & safety conditions are conducive. I'll let you know if I get a chance (I'm not doing THAT until all road conditions are PERFECT).

2) The original poster said he has a 5.4 not a stink-bomb smoker and he's getting over 15. I'd like to know who I have to kill to get that out of my truck.

3) I'd rather get 1 or 2 MPG less than smell like diesel everywhere I go. Might not bother me at a job site (since I'm the boss, the employees can't say anything either), but since this is my daily driver, I can't let it stink up my suits. Don't want to scare the girls away with stinky diesel fumes, nor would I want to meet the type of girl who is ATTRACTED to the stench of oil products. It's all about getting the chicks...
