Question Bedliner/Cover help please

I just ordered a '04 FX-150. This will be my first pick up and I would like some advice from the vast amount of experience you have.
What type of bedliner should I get and what type of soft cover should I consider?
I live on Cape Cod Massachusetts so there is a good amount of snow in the winter and TONS of sand everywhere during the summer. I will be taking this truck on the beach.
THANK YOU for your help!

Get a LINEX liner. I have one in my 04 F150 Lariat. I did a lot of research first and this seemed to be the best to me. The liner material is very duable and absorbes shock very good. It has even been used in the Military and Government for bomb proofing buildings.

As for the bed cover. I would not get a soft top. The weight of snow after a good snow fall could tear the top or break the bows. Also anybody can take it off and steal your stuff.

Right now I am making a hard cover for my truck out of aluminium that will lock

As far as bed liner is concern, I recommend the spray-on.. Bed cover, I like the under cover.. I'm don't like soft bed cover but that's just my opinion....Congrats on your new truck!!

Linex seems to be popular with the folks on this and other forums, but there is nothing wrong with Rhino linings, either. If I had shops selling both located side-by-side, I'd probably pick the Linex because I respect the opinions and experience of our fellow posters. However, there is only one Linex installer listed in the greater Pittsburgh area, and it would have been a major hassle to get my truck there for the installation, so I opted for Rhino. I am very pleased with the service I received and the way it turned out.

If this is not going to be a work truck then don't worry about the hard spry in type liners or even the plastic liners. I would say go with bedrug. Check out their website, www.bedrug.com. Very durable and looks greak. I am getting mine installed the begining of this year.

I put on an Access cover (soft), just for the fact that you can roll it up & have all the height you need from front to rear. I think the best way to go is a hard cover if you don't ever need the height.(I have yet to see a soft cover that doesn't leak). Went with a Ford bed liner, a lot cheaper than the spay-ins, & if the truck ever needs body repair like a boxside replacement, the spray-ins are a big pain to deal with. Most people do like the look of the spay-ins, it gives more "finished" look & things don't slide around in the bed. My opinion is, I want things to slide, try to pull something heavy across a spay-in, it ain't gonna happen. It's all a matter of opinion.

As for a tonneau cover a soft will suit you just fine if you are not concerned with locking items up in the back and you want the flexibility of easy removal. The snow will never break or rip your cover. I live in Western NY where we average over 200 inches of snow a year and my soft cover has never ripped or had the bows bend.

Line-X and I DON"T want things to slide across the liner. I once was hauling a pallet full of roofing shingles with a drop in liner. A car pull out in front of me and I had to slam on the brakes. The result was a badly bent bed rail right behing the back glass when the shingles slid. If it had been something tall it may have ended up in the cab with me. Just my opinion.

Any rough idea what the liners are costing?

Thanks,

Scott

I just had my 04 F150 6.5 foot bed sprayed on Thursday with Line X. It cost me $355 with the 20 dollar Line X coupon. It came out great.
