rattling calipers(rattle clip myth)

I have a 69 f250 camper special with front disc and my passenger side caliper rattles going over bumps. When I step on the brake the caliper holds steady and doesnt rattle. Is there suh thing as a rattle clip? or is there simply a bushing missing in the caliper . Im assuming the only way to get rid of my rattle is to replace my calipers. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Go to a brake supply and get a caliper bolt kit. I forget if there is a bushing in there but that will fix it. I had the same problem and it took me 6 months to figure it out.

On some Fords (mostly two wheel drive and vans) there is a block of metal that holds the caliper on and on the back are black metal springs that prevent it from rattling. Sometimes you can bend these clips back for a very short term soultion. Sometimes they break as you bend them. They are usually called "keys".

I might be experiencing the same noise, kind of a muted bell sound that goes away with brake pressure applied. I've had the calipers replaced,
regular brake services, and after every service everything is quite for a couple hundred miles then it sound like the old truck again. Could some one tell me more about what Mike W posted. What exactly is a caliper bolt kit and what is its function. Does it replace the existing bolts etc. I would appreciate any info as this noise has always been a thorn in my side.
By the way great sight here. I've lurked for a long time and finally decided to register and post.
Thanks

Do you have the Dayton dual piston calipers? Sounds like you do. My truck also does this when hitting bumps. There are two bushings per caliper bolt (total of eight), I think I remember a sleeve, and a clip.

These are all included in a bolt kit for around twenty dollars. The bolts themselves were $8 a piece last time I checked. Bolts can be had separately but not the rest at NAPA. I haven't been able to find them anywhere else but NAPA in my neck of the woods.
