Kingpins - How much play is accepatable?

Have an '83 F350 2wd with kingpin frontend. I've stripped down to repair brakes, etc....how much play in spindle (twisting, and vertical) is acceptable? I've got very little twisting in it, but some vertical, up/down movement. Less than 1/16"...is this OK? Hate to spend time repairing at this point....need truck back.

No play is acceptable. Of course you can drive it that way, but plan on fixing it sometime. It would not pass inspection where I live.

I agree. Balljoint/kingpins are generally the main thing (generally first) they check.
