2003 F250 safety question. LATCH?

I'm looking to upgrade from my 01' 150, to an 03' 250. I am trying to find out if the 03' 250's have the LATCH system installed in them. It's used to anchor child seats in. I asked my dealer, and I called Ford, and nobody knew. Does anyone here know if it has both the upper and lower parts?
Much appreciated!

Brian

If your talking about anchor points for a child seats, the Super Duty 250/350s do.

Thanks for the fast reply. So you have the anchors low in the seat, and the tethers high?

2003 F250 safety question. LATCH?

I don't see any when I was checkout a F-350 Crew Cab a few weeks ago. All the anchors are on the back side of the seats. My wife's new Honda Pilot is the same way. Her old CR-V has the anchors up high (and I had to mount the anchor point myself after buying a kit from Honda). The lower points are nicer in terms of looks and accessibility because the tether is not in the way once the child seat is installed. Also, there really is no good place to mount an anchor point up high in the back seat of the Super and Crew Cabs.

Question 2003 F250 safety question. LATCH?

I'm still struggeling with this LATCH issue. I thought that ALL vehicles made after 9/02 were required to have the upper, and LOWER anchors installed.

I've emailed Ford, and for all purposes they have ditched my question. I did end up buying a 03 Screw, and I can see the upper teathers, but I still cannont find the lower anchors. I don't know if there is a TSB or something that the dealer can install or not.

I've asked my dealer, and they scratch thier collective heads and say they don't know.

I just wish I could get an answer. Very frustrating. There is nothing more important to me than the safety of my son, and Ford seems to be blowing me off.

If you have a Screw, you may get a faster answer in the F150 forum. If you have a CrewCab F250, you are in the right place.

Not all vehicle have the complete LATCH system. Both the new F150 and 250s will have anchor points but not both lower and upper points like in there cars.

2003 F250 safety question. LATCH?

The 2003 F-250 manufactured after 9/02 have lower anchor points for the child seats and the upper teather points are right below the top of the rear seat. If the trucks you are looking at do not have the anchor points look at the date of manufacture tag on the driver side tag and see what the manufacture date is. I would really like to have the lower anchors on my back seat also! we are expecting a new baby in march and I really would like to have the lower anchor points. I bought the truck of my dreams in august 2002 (a 2003 model) and no lower anchor points If anyone knows how I can get some installed please let me know!!

Actually I found a VIN decoder, but it does not give the month. Here is the link if anyone else want to check it out:

I don't know where this information came from, but it's incorrect. There is no complete LATCH system on the Super-Dutys or Excursions. This safety regulation only applies to vehicles under 8500 GVW. Super-Dutys do have the anchor for the top tether, but there are none for the lower anchor points, and there won't be any for the foreseeable future. Sorry.
