You got a good deal on those keys! I had to pay $35.00 for the key and $92.00 for the programing at my FRIENDLY Ford dealer.
I don't know why the dealers don't make sure the manuals and keys are with every trade in.(Did I just answer my own question in the first sentence of this note?!)

Exclamation Try Your Local Ford Dealer

I took my 2002 ST to one of my local Ford dealers early in the morning. One of the lead Techs came out, hooked the computer to my truck and didn't charge me one red penny. Reprogrammed my keypad with the original factory number...

Thumbs up Thank You!

I own a 2000 Ford Explorer I bought used from an "other than Ford" dealer I never got the original owners manual for it or the keypad code from the dealer where I purchased it. I went to several Ford garages in my "area" (the nearest is 60 miles away, then 2 others 130 miles) and got a quote to get the code. The nearest one quoted $120, with the other 2 close behind. I figured that I really didn't need to use that feature on my Explorer THAT bad so I never got the code. I kept looking for ways to get the code without being shafted. I just happened to come acrossed this site looking for other solutions for maintainence on my vehicle. I joined the site and ran a search for keyless entry code. I was in another forum in here and another user directed me to this thread.

Thanks to everyone I was able to find my code within 10 minutes. It was located on the white box with a label behind the rear left panel in the space near the jack.

What a great afternoon! Thanks to all of you, I just earned $120 in 10 minutes

My roomate just bought a new Dodge SRT-4 and he was able to do some turning with the key to change the way the remote keyless entry works. Now he can just press a button once on his remote and all the doors unlock, unstead of pressing twice and unlocking the drivers door, then again for everybody elses door. Is there a way that you can do that on a '03 explorer? And is there a way to make the lights flash when I do unlock the car with the remote, and not on just the locking part. Its a little annoying thinking that you unlocked the door and pull on the handle and nothing happens...

Unhappy Sport Trac keyless entry

I just purchased a used 2001 Ford Sport Trac with keyless entry. I read all the previous posts asking where to find the 5-digit keyless access code. Well I can't find any stickers, under the hood, door jambs, glove box, behind the rear seat where the jack is located or wheel wells. The computer module thats about the size of a cigarette box, where can I find that? Also it came with only one key and key chain remote alarm. I was told that you need 2 keys to make more keys(as many as eight can be made) by the Ford dealership. Well I went to a locksmith and he was able to make a second key and key chain remote alarm for a $130 dollars. Do I have to go to Ford now to get that 5-digit code? I know what Ford dealership the car was originally purchased from, can they help me out?
Appreciate any responses, thanks.

that would be were the jack is located on the 01s, its hard to see but if you use a mirrior, its a little ezer but you can see it with just a flash light it is to the right of the jack it and has connections comming out of it, if all else fails take it to any ford dealler they will hook there scan tool up to it and get it in 2 sec for you

I couldn't find it on my 01 sport either. It's not there, I basically took the back panel off. I guess it's off to the dealer

Mine was there also... in my 1998 Mountaineer.

Thanks all!

Question 2003 Sport Track code location??

I too bought my Sport Track (2003) at a non-Ford dealer without owners manual or keyless entry code. I'm getting varied responses. A Ford dealer I needed to connect with a reader and retreive the code. They would do it for $80 ("it's all about the $ now" was his quote). I also found info that said is was located on the ECU, but I've looked everywhere but cannot find the ECU and/or the code. Can anyone help me?

Just to confirm, on a '02 (and most likely 03 & 04) the code IS in the vehicle.
Here's a write-up WITH photos....

Thumbs up Found my 5-digit code-Thanks Mikephotos!

Just bought a used 2002 Explorer but we only got one key and key FOB.

I found Mikephotos' great write-up and was able to find my factory code and program my own code.

I just got a new Remote Entry FOB with instruction from ebay for under $20 today and was able to program that as well. What a great day! Now all I need is a spare key and I'm all set.
