stock 5.0 ho block 1100 hp

i was in wally world today and picked up the mustang and fast ford mag. there was a stang in it with stock ported heads and a stock block with over 1100. it had a big turbo on it and a special grind cam to compensate for the extra air. that is a lot of power for a stock block

Your probably right, they do build up a lot of stock 302 blocks with crazy hp. Do you remember anything else about the article? Appreciate the number I will give them a call, and see what they say. Hows your car coming along, ripped the motor out yet?

it has to be pumping a lot of power at high rpms, is there any power curve info on it?

well it is expensive to crank horse power like that out of a 302 but then you have to stand back and look and think how long is this going to run? i mean 500hp is great out of a 302 but 1100? it might last 2 runs down the strip b 4 ur replaceing it or rebuildeing it. probibly wont even last long enough to change the oil 1 time

1100 HP is nice, but I've SEEN quite a few Stock roller block 302's come apart around 600hp due to the BLOCK cracking around the main journals.

i agree with bogn stock 302 blocks are usually good for about
600 hp before the webbing for the main caps begins to crack.

I knew a guy personally that was getting over 650HP at the wheels with a stock 92 block, pistons, cam etc... with a stock AOD tranny. He couldn't keep head gaskets together long enough for a full 1/4 mile run. He was pushing about 22psi of turbo boost. I was impressed the pistons, rods or block did not fail. They undoubtedly soon will, but I give ford a pat on the back. He ran an 11.1 on street tires and stock 3.08 gears. 1100HP will leave you picking up pieces. It may be the truth but not smart.
