Question is it a clutch or tranny problem?

HELP! ADVICE IS NEEDED
I have a 1994 4x4 F150 with a manual tranny and about 65K original miles.
Here's the question; When I let the clutch out in second or third gear and push on the accelarator the engine RPMs pick up but the speed doesn't increase for about 2 or 3 seconds, then it kicks in.
It's as if the clutch is slow to release (just my uneducated guess).
The fluid level is good.
Any ideas?

Most clutches go farther but I've seen them fail a lot quicker if somebody overloaded the truck or other driving mistakes. I'd suspect clutch disc/pressure plate needs replaced. Good time for clutch release bearing/pilot bearing/slave cylinder if you don't enjoy pulling the trans. It seems I have to go in every so often for rear main seal or something already mentioned. 2wd don't bother me but I hate dropping the 4x4 trans.

Your clutch is slipping whether from contamination or wear. Either way you will need to replace the clutch and slave cyl. Give me a call if you need any help. 888-462-2739
