two cats?

on the truck in my sig, the pipes coming off the exhaust manifolds go into what looks to be a dual inlet cat. is this what it is or is it something else.

Is this the stock Y pipe? I dont know of any dual inlet cat. The only thing that I know of is having two "Cat" looking units in the Y pipe. If I read this wrong, let me know. Ill wait for a response to see if I can help you further.

well what i meant was that the two pipes coming off the exhaust manifolds go into a dual inlet container of some kind, then its single out from there to the cat.

That is your pre cat, there is probably a pipe connecting the 2 pipes together where the oxygen sensor screws into. The pre cait is there to warm up the exhaust gas temps.

I'm sure it would run just fine, just make sure to hook the O2 sensor as close to the original location as possible or you might have fuel/air ratio problems. You could have an O2 fitting welded in to the passenger side exhaust pipe and run a true dual set up

Well i have two pipes already, one coming from each manifold. They both go into the pre cat, right at the bend of each is another pipe connecting the two, thats where the O2 sensor is, about 10 inches before either of the cats. So if i cut it right at the pre cat, where the two pipes go in, then just weld pipe onto that wouldnt it be true duals? Where my o2 sensor is, i should be able to run true duals anyway, i have dual pipes going IN the pre cat, then it singles off, then a splitter or Y pipe is after the second cat, im gonna remove all of that from the pre cat to the Y so i can run true duals with glass packs
