In 1978, on the F350 SuperCab 4x2, with the 155.0 inch wheel base, Ford offered as an option a 7.5 liter (460) with a new process 435 trans. I know what you're thinking. No one has ever seen or heard of this, but on pages 85 & 86 of the 1978 Ford Truck Body Builders Layout Book it shows this as an option. Does anyone have one? Have you heard of or seen one?

Industrial applications had quite a few. Except they came with the 13" clutch and the 1 1/2 input shaft.

 

yes, this may be true, but I believe you're talking about 2 - 2 1/2 ton trucks, (F600-850). I want to know if anyone has a 1 ton supercab with the 460 4sp.

Just because it was on the option list doesn't mean anyone ever opted to do it. The 5.0 was an option on the 80's 3/4 4x4's but I've only seen one or two in all the years I've been dealing with trucks.

Granted I think It would be an awesome combination, but the dealers are sometimes very shy about ordering something that isn't mainstream. I tried to order a Jeep wrangler with rubber floormats, hard top, 6 cyl and 5 spd plain jane white last year. The dealer in town told me I should find somebody else because if I changed my mind they would never be able to sell it here in town because there is very little demand for such a jeep. Most people want every bell and whistle known to man for the resale value and status symbol.

Needless to say, I went to the toyota dealer and got what I wanted without any hassle.

Just my 2 cents. ( Most of the time not even worth 2 cents.)
