Maybe a high pressure salseman got the orignal owner to buy the signal stat package! And the a starving flat rate mechanic cootie-bobbed the lights on!

Yes 4speed my hildys also shows the aftermarket lights as being ford authorized. The pics that kenny posted look just like the signal stat lights.

the only conclusion i can come up with is sorta what i was thinking at the get go and what Kevin and 4 speed concluded--all the lights, fender and tailight, must have been a dealer add-on, perhaps for safety inspection---i was thinking more in line with the truck just coming from Ca., with all the different reg. they have! i do admit i like the dual tailight set-up. i'll be getting some better pictures Monday, but i believe for the $ i would be paying, i can find an all original truck of that vintage w/o the "cootie-bobbed" lights. the owner is very understanding and has no problem with me backing down from contract, however, if he has to pay a fee to e-bay, i will offer to pay it, even though it was adv. as original. i will stay connected to this site to talk again with all you great people on issues or what-nots. i guess i'll go back to work on my bronco now! thanks all-------pac-man

i like 59 or 60. i think i like the grill better on the 60. i have a 59 now, but it needs comp. rest. and i'm so busy i don't have time for all that--at least now. for me,a short bed, style side, custom cab with the wrap around window and the 6 or 8 cyl. and auto. would be a beautiful thing indeed! i do need to sell my bronco's first instead of piling on more toys for me to tinker with! but i'll still continue looking----ya never know what may come up!! thanks again---------------------------------pac-man

60 short bed

hey pac-man ,safety inspectons were not inforce in cal in the 60,s, i have 2 60shortbeds and before you buy check out your catologs and 90% will end in 59 and start up in 61 ,1960 was a funny year for f-100,s, have seen the lights on top of the fenders at the pull it yards, mostly on f-250. later 53panal

i know nothing about ca. inspections--that's very interesting about NOT having them in the 60's. that makes this truck even more bazarre. if not put on for inspections, then why--and who did it? has ANYONE out there seen a 60 ford with the above mentioned lights? those dual tailights are what really throw me. if, by chance, that WAS a factory install---man i would think that would make this truck a rare bird. i bought a 61 econoline once with a SHORT tailgate and come to find out, that was a very rare and hard to find option! go figure! at this time i'm torn on which way to go with the truck.---------------------------------pac-man

You'd be surprized at just how much some people will go out of their way to butcher up a vehicle! Whoever did it probably thought it was a great idea at the time! But in all honesty that would be an easy fix to just fill the holes and blend on some matching color paint. I've seen alot worse butchering than that in my lifetime!

ok, short bed, skymist blue, and corithian white, f-100,built september 16th,1959, 3 speed standard tranny, 3:73 open rear end, 5000g.v.w, certifed net h.p at 4000 r.p.m, and your truck wasn't a dealer ordered. It still isn't the right paint style, as it should look similar to mine except starmist blue. -4speed

thanks so much for deciphering those #'s. i assume by you saying it was NOT a dealer ordered truck, that definitely means someone, other than factory, added those lights!
by the way, that's a real nice looking truck you have. i'd love to find one just like it but with the wrap-around window! how'd you come across your's, anyhow?-------------------------pac-man

Yes, it just means it was delivered to the dealership how ever they amounted it in 1960. No special business or person order any custom options.

Thanks for the comment on the truck, I found mine on ebay. It's what we'd call a"3 footer". Although it does have the ford-o-matic(rare) tranny, I still payed $5,000 for it and have thrown an additional $1800 to get it to the point its at right now(the truck was listed as"immaculate" and all original). Oh well, I'll never sell it. I would have loved to found a big back window, but it wasn't a high priority at the time. There's some really nice big back window's on that site www.collectorcartrader.com, and I'm always looking for another! I'll let you know if I come across any really nice ones, -4speed :edit, here's a pic of how the paint should look,

yes, that's the bad part of buying w/o seeing first. VERY FEW items i ever bought from e-bay were what condition the owner said! i just got some more pictures of the 60, and though the owner THINKS it has only 25k miles on it, just looking at the inside cab pictures shows me it probably has more than that! Yes, if you do hear of anything, let me know. and i see what you're saying about the color scheme not being correct either. thanks for all your help----------------------------------pac-man
