i m going to hook up an oil furnace to heat my back room and garage. Anybody know if there is a problem with burning coloured diesel in it. Its 10 cents a litre cheaper and I can get it on my way home. Furance oil people will not deliver under 200 litres and want to inspect the tank
IMO... I ran the shop oil furnace on number 2 diesel for one winter. I could carry gas cans with me but couldn't be there during the day to accept delivery of the minimum 200L. Diesel will help keep the furnace clean with no harmful after effects.
I have an oil burner in my workshop, and that's what I burn in it. Diesel is the same as furnace oil in my opinion - verified in the above posts, and it burns clean and hot.
