JC, not quite sure how to even do it.What i would like to do is make a video on the dyno,so it can be heard under a load, its like nothing you,ve heard, very wicked sounding.you are in Texas right? What part?I go to Texas all the time, maybe we can hook up sometime.

Ok i see Lumberton, i go thru there going to Tomball or Victoria, I will give you a shout next time.

Somewhere it said the stang was supercharged, and you could see the custom plenum. You could probaly contact them.

I emailed them. If they respond, I'll post the info here.

I'm just a hair north of Beaumont (I-10). Do you come through there? I have some family (or my wife does) that used to live near Victoria. I like it down there, but it sho gets hot. Fishing is great down there, too. Used to go further south and fish the Laguna Madre - beautiful area if you can stand the heat.

Do you come through here on business or pleasure?

The SVT boys at Ford built a one-off V-10 a while ago but instead of basing the motor on the 5.4 like our motor is, Ford custom built a 5.8 liter V-10 based on the 4.6 mod motor. It had the ultra rare 2000 Cobra-R head design and was basically a stretched out 4.6 Mustang motor. I was thinking maybe this was the same car but once got to the pics I saw that it wasn't. The SVT built car was silver and said BOSS 351 on it's sides. All the mags have flipped out over this car, but I wonder why ? There's several people with the 6.8 liter V-10 in their Mustangs running around. One of them who posts occasionally here, on our site. So yea, a custom small block V-10 is cool, but is it cooler than a 6.8 liter V-10 ? Not to me, "there's no substitute for cubic inches". I'll take the bigger motor thank you.

Yea.....the v-10 bolts right in.........=)
But I think that one has a turbo on it.....the was they run the piping makes me think turbo car........which would be awesome......I'd love to put a turbo on mine......=)
But mine is currently down.......=(
Something went inside the engine.......guess thats what I get for getting a used motor.......So I'm going to rebuild it and modify the intake to fit under a stock hood........=)

I've heard of it being put into a t-bird (MN12, gotta be a '94-'97).

Quote: "Lots of torque, but no power" - whatever that means. I don't think they rechipped it to take advantage of the extreme difference in weight. It could probably use a 3.08 rear gear too...

It's something I've thought about - a '97 Sport T-bird (or my wife's '97 Cougar 30th) with the Triton V10 badges on the side

Didn't the later T-Birds come with the 4.6 mod motor ? If so then you'd think the V-10 that goes into the Mustang engine bay relatively easily would also go into the Bird.

What the heck does 'lots of torque, but no power" mean ? That's kind of an oxymoron isn't it ? Torque IS power, hp is rpm. That's a very unusual statement whoever made it.

Yes, the 4.6L was available from '94 up to '97 when they stopped production of the MN12. And, yes, the V10 does "fit" but I'm sure the radiator needs to be relocated, and you need a custom hood.

That phrase was told to me by someone who was remotely involved in the project. What they meant, I think, was that with a car less than 4000lbs, compared to a Superduty, the motor just doesn't spin up that fast. Lots of grunt, but not as much acceleration as what they anticipated.

Or, the darn thing just spun the wheels and wouldn't hook-up.

It's like comparing a 6.0PSD and a 6.8L V10. The diesel puts out gobs of torque, but spin-up time takes a toll on acceleration. The V10 spins up faster, and even though it doesn't have the torque of the diesel, it will out-accelerate the diesel.

More spark advance, and higher rear gear would probably have helped a lot.

yeah......what he said........it's not all that cracked up......if i had to do it again I'd stick a 5.4 dohc motor in
the torque comes in so early it just roast the tires and then when it does hook it doesn't have the hp to go.......but I'm hoping to change that when I re-do the intake........the v-10 has some LONG runners and I'm going to shorten them to lower the intake so that should move the torque curve up and hp too
we'll see

V10mustang,
How are you going to modify your intake? I have been wanting to go with an aftermarket intake, but I don't know of anyone who makes one. The bottom of the intake is a plastic box that is screwed to the upper aluminum intake and I'm afraid that when I raise my boost I might blow the bottom off the intake. Do you have any suggestions on how to modify my intake to prevent this?
