I don't know about the others. I am trying to get another 460 built before it gets much colder. All the machine shop running is done now, time to start reassembling.

Hopefully I will light it before the end of the month.

I still have not figured out how it happened or the transition was made ( from 351M's and 400's ). A couple of years ago I was lucky to have laid eyes on no more than 4-5 460's ever. Now I am hooked on them. I have 460 parts everywhere.

But thats not a bad thing to be hooked on.

My daughter has ask me if its possible to put a 460 in the 95 in my signature.

She has figured out that she likes that big block power too.

I'm currently considering it for my truck it will be a efi 460 or a 300 6cyl can't decide all I know is that my truck gets terrable mileage and I'm going to do somthing or just quit driving it daily (wknds only) I know where an 89 f 250 4x2 is with an efi 460 and the body is shot he told me he's gettin 12 to 15 mpg with that truck so I'm tryin to but the truck for the motor and computer and all the other stuff. I could just go crazy and 7.3 psd it!!!!!!

Best mileage to date is a smidge over 13 mpg on a road trip with the cruise set.

The swapped, carbed, 460 in my 82 gets better mileage than the 400 did. It never got over 11 mpg.

The power difference between the two is considerable. And I'm talking stock verses stock.

In my personal experience, every 300 six I ever had got no better mileage than a V-8, and sure ran a lot worse. Took a mile to get from 55 to 65 mph. Just kidding, but it was close.

Superdave, If I'm gettin 6mpg if I'm doin good. More like 5 mpg Ive seen that efi 460 swap and I don't like the way the air induction routes across the top of the motor. I'm going to try to swap to a 2 barrel with a stock intake to see how it does then we will go from there. Do you have headers on your truck? My cousin spent 500.00 on his for his 460 bronco.

Ouch!! What do you have induction wise now?

No, I have the stock cast iron exhaust manifolds on my truck. If you go the carbed 460 route you need exhaust manifolds from a carbed 460 truck or a van. Fit perfect.

Have you tried changing the metering rods? The Edelbrock is pretty user friendly.

Friday: Welcome to FTE, The best place to get a answer to your question would be the 80-86 f-series forum or the suspension forum. Thats where the members with your year of truck will be hanging out and will give you the answers you need.

Hope this helps,
Lenny

The new 460 took its first breath last night. As soon as the fuel hit the fuel bowl in the carb, it was running. It runs great.

Broke the cam in, re-checked everything out, then took it for a spin. Now just need to get some miles on it to see what the new cam is going to do.

Have you had any luck with your Edelbrock craburetor?
The 1406, thats the electric choke model isn't it?
