You pry up from the bottom of the square surround. There is a notch there for a small screwdriver.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 03-Apr-02 AT 11:34 PM (EST)]redranger,

If you have a truck that allows you to turn on the fogs with the parking lamps, you don't need to do anything to the switch. If you have a truck that doesn't have this feature, you need to heat up those plastic things with a solder iron or hot nail.

Then heat them up again to put the switch back together.

I just read that you have an '02, you shouldn't have to take the switch apart!!!!!!!!!!!

good luck!

Weldman is right- you shouldn't have to modify the switch on your 2002. Just make the electrical connection.

On the older trucks, the switch won't pull out except in the "headlight" position. With these older switches, you have to do some trimming/grinding.

I believe that the wire colours for '02 that your have to splice are:
red/black and brown.

I've also heard that you cap off the red/black wire going to the switch. I don't THINK that you have to cap off the brown wire. (meaning that it still goes to the switch as well as the red/black)

Hope thats clear as mud!

I've heard that its the white/black wire that you are referring to on the '01's (and early '02 I guess).

Also, from my travels to ford-diesel, I think that you have to cap off the red/black on the 02's, meaning that you terminate it at the back of the plug.

I don't THINK that you have to do that on the '01 style.
But if you get wierd operation like not being able to turn your fogs off or only work when the headlights are on, terminate that wire. I'm a little foggy on this because I was only paying attention to the info pertaining to my truck. which leads me to ->

**I'm not responsible if your truck burns, I am simply trying to give you what I read at ford-diesel**

Did that help?
