power steering for '72 F150

what is involved in converting a 72 F150 to power steering? im fairly sure that it still has the closed knuckle Dana 44 in the front. i know ill need a pump and the correct brackets for the motor, and a power steering gearbox, but im just wondering how hard of a conversion im looking at. will a steering box from a '73-79 work?? thanks in advance.

I just finished a power steering conversion on my 67 4x4. I bought a kit from a guy here in Washington state that is real nice. The kit included everything, even step by step instructions. The guy fabricates the brackets and uses a saginaw pump. It was kind of spendy (475.00) but it fit great.

Power Steering Conversion

Fastbigblockford,I did a power steering conversion on my 71 F-100 4x4 that had manual (armstrong) steering about three years ago and it is still going strong.I would be glad to send you a download of the article I wrote on how I did it.Send me your e-mail address if you want to see it and have fun. It was the best thing I ever did to my truck.

If you put a lift on your truck you can use a power steering box off of a late 70's 2x4 F-150, so you don't have to by the drop arm.
