Idea for the folks in duty

Idea for the folks in duty
I had this idea. It may seem crazy to some. I have been in this hobby since May 1988. In that time I have collected numerous magazines and catalogs. I also have some duplicates. I was wondering what does everybody think of taking some or even one magazine or parts catalog that they are done with and sending it our folks in IRAQ who are serving in the military. It would be a welcome sight for some and open up the hobby to others possibly and promote good will/spirit amongst the troops. Does anyone have an APO address where I could send my magazines and catalogs? Thanks

It's not a crazy idea at all. Very thoughtful of you. But to tell you the truth most of the youngsters are into 10,000 RPM Honda Civics with giant shiney mufflers these days. At this stage of the game, the military does a pretty good job of sending periodicals and stuff like this for the guys and gals. I'm afraid a package addressed to no one in particular might not get there. It will make it if sent to a particular soldier.
If you don't have any friends or family over there, I can help you out with an address. One of my mechanics volunteered to deploy with a helicopter unit since we weren't deployed anyway and they were short Doorgunners. The one that had one of their Chinooks shot down earlier in the month. He could use some cheering up the last time I spoke with him.

Having some new material to read over there is greatly appreciated. In fact, regardless of what the individuals are actually "in to", you will read just about anything you can get your hands on. I know a few people that are still over there, and can provide an address to send to if anyone else is interested!

Our local radio affiliate who carries the John Boy and Billy Big Show was urging folks to send stuff to soldiers with no specific name. Since 911 and the tightened security, unless you address an item to a specific service member, the discard the item. Such a shame it got to that. Like the info 'Fenders posted, the Red Cross is doing a program to send out premade packages to service members. All you have to do is contact the Red Cross and donate $25 , they will do the rest. I'm gonna take my least favorite person off my list and send the money I would have sent on their present.
Guess that just leaves the wife, the truck and the dawg to buy fer, cours she'll buy for mommer n em.
From the outhouse, reading the catalog

That was a very thoughful Ideal you guys have there I'm sure the Guys & Gals here would appreciate the mags. A couple days ago I spotted a classic truck magazine by the time I got around to retrieving it it was long gone. Occasional I can get on the internet to keep up to date on what being discussed here. I see a lot of Fords here mostly the F600s,falcons, and galaxies some in almost new condition. I spotted one 56 F100 and she was beautiful.

Take care Jaye and I hope you get to come home very soon. I didn't know we had a "Screamin Eagle" among us. I'm honored. The 101st ABN is the baddest division in the US Army in my opinion. You guys been taking out the garbage in every conflict as long as I remember. Thankyou

If you want an address I will be going in a month, I don't think I will get an address untill I'm there but if you give me your's I can send you a letter with mine.
As for the Hondas I will agree with the rice burner thought, but if you show sombody a truck with around 500 horse that looks good they will think twice.
