Roller chain or standard chain

Howdy Folks,
I just bought a Cloyes straight up gear set for my 460 and when it arrived the chain was not a roller chain but the other type built of metal plate on edge.

Is it important to use a roller in the timing chain application? I don't race and it's used as a street and off road user. Seemed like a rather huge price difference. What you think?

The roller chain will reduce a little friction. As long as you have an all steel set (no nylon on the teeth) is should be ok unless you are running a monster camshaft with mega spring pressure.
