No, I changed the oil at 20,000-25,000, I would put a new filter on at 5,000 and top it off with Mobil 1 and thats it! It doesn't use oil and runs fine.
The reason I did it was my dad bought a new 1957 Plymonth Fury3 and he read in the paper that Macy's in NY was running all their trucks by using the above method. My dad ran that car hard at up to and over 100mph for 216,000 miles until the trans died and then he sold it. He drove it all over Montana where there is no speed limit and it's cold as hell. I figured that Mobil1 was is lot butter then the oil they had back in 1950's so I tried it! Truck runs fine! Maybe I got lucky? And the loadsthat I've towed would make most Diesel guys pucker. I buy and sell tools and equipment so the average weight I tow is 5,000 to 11,000 (75 times) so I'm hard on it due to use, but I really baby it( never have floored it!) Tow with O/D off ,always.
