Mileage

I currently have 55,000 miles on a 1985 F-150 standard cab, long bed. It is still going strong, in fact I just used it to move from CA to GA.

I couldn't get off the freeway quick enough to snap the photo when the odo has all 3s displayed. I was really hoping to get that shot. I guess I'll have to wait until 444444 for the next photo opportunity.

At some point I figure I'll have to replace ball joints and tie rods pretty soon. Still running the original parts. Original Starter and Alternator as well. These trucks seem to be built pretty well....

Geezzz.....Don't you know that a good American buys a new car at least every two years or thirty thousand miles to keep the economy going and to provide jobs?....
Looking good. I usually get tired of them way before 300k and sell them to a friend. Seems my friends like to keep my properly maintained and full syn cars trucks till they wear out or they donate them. The lowest mileage one I remember was a 1998 escort with just under 200k when the crank broke. Paid less than $10,000 for that car brand new and fully loaded with Fords friends and family discount. My 2007 SES focus loaded cost $17.000 tax license for comparison. The focus had a sunroof witch the escort didn't have wasn't offered back then

I am guessing 250,000+ since the odometer stopped a while back and it read 237K. Poor old 1986 F250 XL super cab has never had the heads off. Oil changes every 3-4K miles. I bought it new for 17K and I have been meaning to turbo it for 20+ years, LOL. I am running into some "special" problems so I figured I better join up here.

Still the old C6, shifts a little early into second but other than that works fine. Change oil on the tranny every 50K.
I am sure the diesel is still alive because I have been diligent about dirt. Never a leak in the air system, keep the engine compartment clean, oil containers sealed, etc. and I don't do much off road. Uses about 2 qt of oil with each fill up (both tanks full to 1/8}.

clean oil is the life of the engine. I'm, still using the oem air filter cause I really don't trust aftermarket filters. Do we need to take up a collection to buy you a replacement odometetr or is a replacement already in the works?

I am betting like any elderly lady she does not want her true age to show. Hence if I replace it she will break the new one.
I have one of those scrolling number wheels and increment it when I fill up using 16 MPG which is what she almost always gets.
Pick n Pull has one for cheap, I just have to get up the ambition.

05F250DSL is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Just turned 175k on my 05' 250. Hopefully I have many more miles ahead. My neighbor on the other hand just turned 17k on his 06' 350 dually. He rarely drives it and as expected spotless showroom condition. But with a nice lift and semi wheel and tires on it.

from what people are saying they have potential to go a lot of miles. If my memory serves me from 2007 IH informed me that the 6.0 was engineered to go at least 275-300k working miles. I did lots of research on all of the light duty d engine systems available back then before I plunked down my hard earned cash for a new truck
