rear windshield on 2004 F-150 Supercrew
Don't make the mistake I made - power rear windshield on a 2004 F-150 supercrew is impossible to get and costs $714 (prior to installation which is the subject of this post). If you haul a 4-wheeler make SURE you tie it down really well. I didn't and broke the rear windshield.
My question is this, what am I missing regarding installing this thing? I've never seen anything like this in my life. I've installed windscreens on all types of cars and this is far and away the most ridiculously difficult one I've encountered. It's a multi-hour task. The back seat has to come out (it appears) and removing it requires incredible effort. There are 4 huge bolts with 19mm nuts that are impossible to reach and have no vertical room either. Am I missing something here or do you have to disassemble the whole back end of the cabin - thresholds, seats, hardware, etc. - just to get the rear windscreen replaced? The replacement part comes with a brand new motor for the power window. What is the easiest way to get this done?
Regardless, many of us have had 4 wheelers break rear glass on trucks. Advise anyone you know to go to extra lengths to make sure they don't do it on their 2004 F-150 supercrew. Unbelievable. Dealers can't help with advice nor can any glass shops because no one has had to do this yet. I'm the first person in America to break the rear glass on a 2004. Yeehaw.
