'78 F-150 Heater Core

Okay, so I've had the beast since last March and was hoping to change out the heater core before the cold weather set in...However, apparently I have the "fancy" ford with ac and while most vehicles have the heater core relatively accessible right beneath the dash, it seems the evaporator (?) for the ac is there. I can see/feel the heater core in the back of the compartment, but I can't reach it to get it out, let alone fully replace it. Is there some trick I'm missing?

I was really hoping that wasn't the only way to get to it....especially since to get through the back of the box there in the hood, you have to go through the ordeal of undoing all the gromets...

I appreciate the help...lemme know what your brother has to say.

Thanks,
Kate

there is a complete detailed instruction in the Tech articles. It requires about 20 steps but if you follow the instructions, it is not that bad.

And if you follow the instructions in the tech article you do it from the passenger compartment under the dash.
