Question Aftermarket tires on stock wheels?

I like the look of the factory FX4 wheels. I will be purchasing a 6" lift as soon as possible. Does anyone know what the maximum tire size would be for the 18" FX4 wheels? I saw a pic of 315/70/17 on the 17" FX4 stock wheels - looks good. Is there any tire experts out there to address this issue?

I believe the 2004 Fx4 are 18" wheels/tires...at least on mine they were. I bought Eagle Wheels Series 178 18x9 with Nitto tires 325/60R18.

I put BFG 285's on the stock 17" wheels on my FX4, the 18's as mentioned are an option ( but free if limited slip option or something...) not sure. but i wanted the 17's for these BFG's

with a 6" lift, bigger would fit

Ok, how about these tires on the 18" FX4 wheels:

BFG Mud-terrain 35X12.50R18

Recommended wheel width is 8.5"-11"

Will they work or do I have to purchase aftermarket wheels?

The 18" Stock Fx4 wheels are 7.5" wide. Without a lift those tires will be to big.

I'm thinking Skyjacker 6" or Fabtech 6" as soon as I can get one shipped. I like the look of the FX4 18" wheels, I would like to go with them but I need to know if that is possible.

You should be able to get 305's and possibly 315's to still fit on the Fx4 rims.

Venom49,
Do you recall where you seen the 315/70/17's? I'm wanting to do the same thing but can't find any pics. Thanks.

I am quite sure the BFG 305's 17" are black wall. not available in raised white letter. they are factory tires for the H2 Hummer

I wanted raised white letter so i got the 285's liek my last two trucks. if the 305's were in raised white letter. i would have choce them though

The Hummer tires are 315's and they are a blackwall. I think they'll look good on the dark shadow grey but I'm trying to find some pics. Is the silver F150 pic in your gallery yours? It looks like the truck has the 2.5" front end lift and blackwall tires.
