Removing rearview mirror for window tinting?

2003 EB EXPY

Wanted to get the front windshield tinted with a very light 50% tint just to protect the dash from UV.

However, shop broke their tool attempting to remove the front rear view mirror mount. Tried again with no luck.

Did something change between the previous generation EXP and the new one?

I'm guessing they're trying to remove the entire mirror mount (including the portion that is glued onto the windshield) in order to put the tint on.

Any suggestions or alternative mirrors that do not required being glued onto the windshield?

I think that the mount is telling you something: Don't remove it!

Buy a nice sun shade.

I agree with WW, it is much safer to use a sunshade if you are that worried. Otherwise, just use a protectant on the dash and you'll be fine.
