Turbo and supercharger are usually designated to differentiate between a turbine driven blower as opposed to a mechanically driven blower. However, the complete designation for the turbo is "turbosupercharger," and is shortened to "turbo." jd

been doing a little research on turboing or supercharging my truck. I still want it to be streetable, but im not very happy with its power, espically when towing. I dont want to kill my mileage but would like to gain some hp and tq. This is by no mean any kind of race vehicle, of any sorts. Its my DD and i occasionally take it and play in the mud. Where again it seems a little underpowered. What would you guys suggest, either a turbo charger or a supercharger? Im thinking supercharger as they are easier to install, if i understand correctly. If a super charger which style would yall suggest??

also sorry for hijacked thread!

I'd try a mustang kit as a basis/guide and go from there.

http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/index.php they shoul be able to help also.

i checked it out, but it was late, i didnt learn awhole lot, i did learn that my block would be good as is, for about 400hp. Push that to much and the block will start cracking. That much power would be nice. But im not really lookin to go that big. I guestimate my motor to be making maybe 250. So, with that in mind, 300-350 would be about what i was looking for. I still have a lot to learn before i try any of this.

How much are you wanting to spend?

on the low buck side, you could probaly find a set of used manifolds and down pipe, for a single turbo setup.

if use a turbo from a gm 6.5 that will let run you about 8psi max.

I figure you could probaly find most of this on flea-bay, or the like.

I dont want a whole lotta money into it. Ive heard that its better on the motor if you go with twin turbos, as to equalize pack pressure on both banks, this is just in the little research ive done in the last couple of days.

What do ya think?

Idk, but I dont see how, you'll have both banks feeding the turbo. Think single exhaust but with a turbo, you'll have a cross over pipe.

BUT Twins would be so bad a**.

yes twins=awesome but twins equals some work too. Hmm i wonder how many twin turbo f250's there are out there???...???...??? Doubtful but maybe firstever?

NOOBIE ALERT NOOBIE ALERT, i want to run 40psi of boost make 700 rwhp at the least, gobs and gobs of torque get GREAT gasmileage and do all of that with the stock motor i have, i cant afford to go with forged internals, so its gunna all have to stay stock, xcept the turbo system i can afford that!!!!

bet that would be a quick quarter mile pass though!!!! Maybe i should tie it off to a shevy "duramax" and tug it around for 30 secs or so just to say i did!, but i also want dyno numbers ahh so many choices!!!
o well i dont think anybody is really using this thread anymore!

Back on my subject!
Ive read that if i were to go twins i could use some 4 banger turbos off like thunderbirds or what not, as when the 2 combined it would be like 1 larger turbo. So it could be pretty cool. But knowing me ill get gready and crack the block, then ill have to do it all right, and go for big numbers!!!! But i guess i got to start somewhere!
