Extended Warranty Voided with 5th wheel!!!
Since buying my truck, I have been researching extended warranties. Every company I have spoke to will void the warranty because I have a 5th wheel hitch in the bed.
Does anyone have an extended warranty? With whom?, and do they cover the truck if 5th wheel hitches are installed?

A thought.
I know that ford's extended is not voided by the 5th wheel hitch, but you have to make sure that it is fords. A lot of the dealers will sell extended warr. that are really some other company. I think that each company has thier own ideas. Good luck on that one.
Short bed vs long bed. I tow with a long bed, it just gives me a little more room as far as manuvering around. You can get a slide hitch for the short beds that will give you the same thing. It does require you getting out of the truck and re-adjusting things aroundto make it work but it does seem to work fairly well. And from just my experience the long bed seems to be a little smother running on some of our wonderful interstates.
Just my take on it. Some of the other guys might have some diffrent thoughts on it.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME ?!?!?! Void a warranty with a 5th wheel?
This is BS !!!
The Ford marketing touts the 'towing prowess' of these vehicles !!! (I agree with the caveat of "if properly equipped"!)
I was once told by a dealer service department that they were going to have to charge me for something because 'it looks like you went off-road"....
I'm sure he could tell I thought he was the stupidest person on the planet when I said
"IT'S A JEEP !!!!
I wonder what Jeep would have to say about your comment?"
I didn't get charged for it !
And for more reasons than just this comment, I would stick with a Ford warranty.... When I bought my last Excursion, they slipped a NON Ford warranty into the contract when I specifically stated I wanted a Ford warranty...
Took a bit, but they changed it once I got the paperwork home and found it wasn't Ford...

I've posted a similar reply before but here is my opinion. I had a 99 F350 dually that rarely moved without a 32', 12k fiver or 3500 lb boat in tow. I swapped for an '03 F350 sc, short bed. There was no comparison in the way the two vehicles towed or drove alone. Ford bought back my '03 and I went back to F350 sc, lb, dually. I'm just finishing up with the hitch and aux tank so I haven't towed with it yet but it just drives better. The dually is a pain when not towing but I have other personal transportation. As to hitches, PullRite makes a SuperSlide that is automatic in terms of extending the hitch carraige back to create room on turns. It is expensive but a lot cheaper than repairing damage to cab or fiver. My new hitch is also a PullRite. I liked their hitch setup and latch mechanism better than my RBW.

Situation is, Dealer did not offer me a Ford warranty. Instead, he offered some BS that he sells. I did not like that Idea, so I researched other extended warranty companies that have a history and reputation. The consensus is; they will not warranty a truck with a 5th wheel hitch. Guess I will have to look into fords warranty.
As far as towing a 5er with a SB, I do it. I have a Reese 16k slider, and tow without a problem. It does require you to get out and flip the lever in the bed a couple of times more often. And, you do have to pay attention to your turning and manuevering, remembering to slide into the proper position. My son tows with a short box, and does not have the slider. He has to be so cautious all the time.
