Escape V6 Spark Plugs

According to the owners manual, the spark plugs are to be changed at 100,000 miles. I bought a set, thinking I could do it myself. How hard could it be; right? wellllll, I can't find the rear plugs. Can anyone help me out? I'm not a gymnast, so if being a contortionist is a prerequisite to doing this, I'll have to refer this job to someone more limber.

On every side saddle V6 I have ever owned you either had to rock the motor forward or work from under the vehicle. I have not looked under my 04 yet. When the time come I will probably wimp out if I still own it. Might want to get a Haynes Manual it should say for sure.

hanovver28, I whish I had better news for you but changing the RH side plugs is big undertaking. According the the actual "FORD" mechanics service maual, you have to remove the upper intake manifold to access those plugs, LoL.... The real job is first detaching all the perifriall parts to get to remove the maifold! If your really ambisious, let me know and I will send you the manual proceedures. Good Luck!

ahhhh wires,...... vacume lines...........

You should be able to do it your self but if you think you may forget where something goes tape a note to it. I've used zip ties before. Got a big set from walmart with different colors so wasting them was not a problem I put one color on a hose and another zip tie of the same color where it came off from.

Question To change or not to change (the spark plugs)

I recently purchased a 2003 Ford Escape. When I realized they weren't kidding about 18 MPG in town, I thought I would buy some Bosch Platinum+4 Spark Plugs to try and imprtove this. When I got home and couldn't even find the spark plug wires I was a bit dismayed. I would be interested in receiving the FORD Mechanics instructions, Escapie. I am not afraid to remove the intake, but I would like to know I am following the correct procedure. Thanks.

Oh, yes. Stick with Motorcraft plugs and oil filters. They are the best for your Ford, period.
