Red face Thermactor thing again

Sorry ppl........
THis is all to do with an earlier post for a code 44 problem I have been having. I am now trying to figure out where the actual sensor to this nasty octopus is. The thing that has the wires that controls the valves. and if there is something, is there a max. min. voltage output on this? My truck is stinking rich on fuel and has a stumbling on "0" throttle at about 50 km almost like it is cutting out.

Any help is good help.

thank you

Dan.

first, you need to get a haynes book. best $15 i ever spent. it will show all the sensors to check along with readings you should get. secound, my truck was running rich, surging and sometimes cutting out. it turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator. but i was not getting a code 44 so this might not help. wish i could be of more help. i think the parts you are refering to are called solenoids they are the tab solenoid and tad solenoid and on my truck there on the left side of the motor above the valve cover. there is a third solenoid there called a egr vent solenoid. all three are in the same location

There are a bank of "solenoids" mounted on the drivers side valve cover close to the coil. There are 3 of these there, make sure the connectors are tight and clean. Also make sure that there aren't any that are stuck or leaking they control vaccum to the air bypass and air diverter valves. The A.I.R. system is the "thermactor" system on these. I am currently battling with it myself.

Thanks pfogle. I am going to check that out tomorrow. The air pump works great, but I am sure the TAB and TAD valves are not switching correctly or if not at all.

You have all been a good help. I will keep you informed of my success.

I tapped on the TAB and TAD solenoids re read the codes. I have a code 12 and 13 now but the code 44 is gone for now. I assume it was a sticky switch. as for the other codes, I had the 13 before but not the 12. I will re read the codes again a little later.

Thanx all.

Dan
