T-bird turbo on a cleveland?
I've been toying around with the idea of adding turbo charging my 73 4v cleveland that i will be putting into my 82' flareside. I was thinking abodut using a complet system out of a 88 thunderbird turbo coupe (intercooler and all), but i would take it apart and install the proper compressor/turbine wheels to get the right amount of boost. But would this be enough? Or should go with a twin set-up using the same turbos? If not does anyone know whereor what i could use, keep in mind i don't have a hole lot of money to buy a new one, but enough to make a good used setup work.

Use 2 turbocoupe turbos. Don't try it with only one!
If you want to run a single, look for a T4.

Use one off of a dodge cummins they are desinged for 360 inches the inner cooler is a good idea and if you want twins run then in series(sp) and small one (T bird ) and big one (99.5 -02 PSD) that should make enough boost to blow the head gaskets out

If you want a single turbo, the turbo off the 7.3L Turbo-Diesel is just about right. Not that common in junkyards, but it can be found (took me six months).
Also, two turbos off any of the ford turbo-4 motors (mustang, thunderbird, etc) would be pretty close. So would two turbos off saabs, volvos, dodge daytonas, spirits, shadows, etc.
The "junkyard monkey" way of figuring out appropriate "junkard monkey" turbo quantity is like so:
(your engine displacement / donor car displacement) *
(your redline / donor car redline) = number of turbos.
Step 1:
(7.5L / 2.2L ) * (5000RPM / 7000 RPM) = turbo qty
Step 2:
3.41 * .714 = turbo qty
Step 3:
2.435 = turbo qty
Not a perfect calculation, but its ballpark enough that you can size junkyard turbos correctly. The math is easy enough that you can scribble it on the hood of the car next to it with a crayon
